During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a wave of political violence swept across the globe, causing widespread alarm. Described by the media of the day as “propaganda of the deed,” assassinations, bombings and assaults carried out by anarchists—both individuals and conspirators—were intended to incite revolution and established the precedents of modern terrorism. Much has been written about these actions and the responses to them yet little attention has been given to the actors themselves. Drawing on wide range of sources, the author profiles numerous insurgents, their deeds and their motives.

In this groundbreaking title, A. R. Oppenheimer tells how the Irish Republican Army became the most adept and experienced insurgency group the world has ever seen through their bombing expertise – and how, after generations of conflict, it all came to an end. The book is a comprehensive account of more than 150 years of Irish republican strategic, tactical, and operational details, and an analysis of the IRA’s mission, doctrine, targeting, and acquisition of weapons and explosives. As a leading expert on non-conventional weapons and explosives, Oppenheimer vividly presents the story behind the bombs – those who built and deployed them; those who had to deal with and dismantle them; and those who suffered or died from them. He analyses where, how, and why the IRA’s 19,000 bombs were built, targeted and deployed, and explores what the IRA was hoping to accomplish in its unrivaled campaign of violence and insurgency through covert acquisition, training, intelligence and counter-intelligence. Beginning with the Fenian ‘Dynamiters’ in the second half of the nineteenth century, Oppenheimer fully describes and assesses the impact of the pre-1970s bombing campaigns in Northern Ireland and England and the evolution of strategies and tactics during the Troubles. He concludes with the decommissioning of an arsenal big enough to arm several battalions – which included an entire home-crafted missile system, an unsurpassed range of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and enough explosives to blow up several urban centres. The author scrutinises the level of deadly improvisation that became the hallmark of the Provisional IRA’s expertise and the ingenuity in its pioneering IED timing, delay and disguise technologies, and follows the arms race it carried on with the British Army and security services in a long war of mutual assured disruption. He also provides an insight into the bombing equipment and guns in the vast IRA inventory held at Irish Police HQ in Dublin.

The Anarchist Cookbook will shock, it will disturb, it will provoke. It places in historical perspective an era when "Turn on, Burn down, Blow up" are revolutionary slogans of the day. Says the author" "This book... is not written for the members of fringe political groups, such as the Weatherman, or The Minutemen. Those radical groups don't need this book. They already know everything that's in here. If the real people of America, the silent majority, are going to survive, they must educate themselves. That is the purpose of this book." In what the author considers a survival guide, there is explicit information on the uses and effects of drugs, ranging from pot to heroin to peanuts. There i detailed advice concerning electronics, sabotage, and surveillance, with data on everything from bugs to scramblers. There is a comprehensive chapter on natural, non-lethal, and lethal weapons, running the gamut from cattle prods to sub-machine guns to bows and arrows.

He is a ninety-one-year-young man of the old school, such as being soft spoken and well taught in military life, with the ability to give and take orders with ease and authority. This is his first book and there may be more. His emotions are strong and he did everything for his family, i.e. mother, sisters, and brothers. In his book, he relates how he goes places and does things to earn money for them so they may have food and clothing. Later, he got married and had a son and then found he also had a stepdaughter with the lady he married first and also raises her. There was a lot of confusion and often misbehavior related in his book and lots of bread or food for tears within his life. That misbehavior and confusion went away when he met and married a lovely lady and a great beauty from Santa Cruz, California, who had lost her husband. They became fast friends immediately upon meeting and married within two months. She also has a daughter who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. His life has seen a great change, and he is now living in a small town with the lady he should have been espoused to long ago. He has walked the streets of China, ridden on rickshaws in India, helped thresh oats, barley, and wheat in Canada, lived on the beach in Fiji as a native, spent hours in the rains of the Philippines, attended navy school in Florida Keys, experienced the Panama, chewed sand off the Mojave Desert, watched Italy disappear in the sunset, saw the enemys home towns, spent six hours swimming in the Coral Sea when the USS Lexington sank, outwitted the sharks, and then flew into Pearl Harbor in a TBD aircraft the day after Pearl Harbor had been attacked, viewing the death and ruin of that harbor.

Ever since the game began--possibly as far back as the 11th century--golf and war have been oddly connected. In 1457, for example, the King of Scotland banned "gowlf" because his subjects were spending more time on the local links than they were at archery practice--bows and arrows being the country's main weapons of defense at the time. In August 1940--hightailing it home after a raid on Aberdeen, Scotland--a German aircraft dropped a bomb over nearby Stonehaven Golf Club. The large crater that it left between the first and second fairways is still there today and is considered the course's most famous hazard. Local golfers refer to it as "Hitler's Bunker." Those stories, and many more, are included in Bullets, Bombs & Birdies: Golf in the Time of War. Until now, most history books on golf have tended to skip over the wartime years as if the game was completely abandoned during those tenuous times. This new book by Dale Concannon clearly shows that over many centuries of conflict, dedicated practitioners of the Royal and Ancient game have let nothing--not mortar shells, the threat of gas attacks, or even incarceration in a POW camp--get in the way of a round of golf.

In his mid-twenties, Dave Asprey was a successful Silicon Valley multimillionaire. He also weighed 300 pounds, despite the fact that he was doing what doctors recommended: eating 1,800 calories a day and working out 90 minutes a day, six times a week. When his excess fat started causing brain fog and food cravings sapped his energy and willpower, Asprey turned to the same hacking techniques that made his fortune to "hack" his own biology, investing more than $300,000 and 15 years to uncover what was hindering his energy, performance, appearance, and happiness. From private brain EEG facilities to remote monasteries in Tibet, through radioactive brain scans, blood chemistry work, nervous system testing, and more, he explored traditional and alternative technologies to reach his physical and mental prime. The result? The Bulletproof Diet, an anti-inflammatory program for hunger-free, rapid weight loss and peak performance. The Bulletproof Diet will challenge—and change—the way you think about weight loss and wellness. You will skip breakfast, stop counting calories, eat high levels of healthy saturated fat, work out and sleep less, and add smart supplements. In doing so, you'll gain energy, build lean muscle, and watch the pounds melt off. By ditching traditional "diet" thinking, Asprey went from being overweight and sick in his twenties to maintaining a 100-pound weight loss, increasing his IQ, and feeling better than ever in his forties. The Bulletproof Diet is your blueprint to a better life.
